When I come of age, I lift the stone that conceals my father’s sword and sandals, proving my royal birth. Refusing the safe voyage by sea, I take the perilous road to Athens to cleanse it of evil. I defeat the cruel Periphetes, Sinis, and Procrustes, wrestle Cercyon, slay the Crommyonian boar, and cast Sciron from his own cliff. With every victory, I shape the land to justice and make my name a song on every tongue.
