I am Pontus, son of Gaia, and my depths give rise to all that stirs beneath the waves. From my waters come Nereus the wise, the fifty Nereids, and Iris the rainbow bridge between heaven and sea. In my darkness swim the Gorgons, Graeae, and monsters that haunt the edges of mortal imagination. The ocean is my temple, beautiful, endless, and merciless.
