12: MARES OF DIOMEDES (Labor 8)

In Thrace, I steal the flesh-eating mares of King Diomedes, who feeds them human victims. When they kill my companion Abderus, I avenge him by feeding their master to his own beasts. The mares are set free, their hunger sated at last. Some labors demand cruelty to end cruelty.
